Saints Fall Short at Home

by Hil Butler '26
On Friday, October 10, the Saints’ Varsity Football team played at home against Woodberry, losing in a close 20-14 game.

The Saints offense did not play to the level they have throughout the season, netting 87 rushing yards for a team average of 4 yards per carry, compared to their season average of 5.4 yards per carry. RB Aiden White ‘27, who has averaged over 7 yards per carry including this game, managed 4.4 yards per carry with 48 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, leading the team in rushing yards.

The passing offense was a similar story, with QB Chase Roberts ‘26 mostly taking short passes for 12 completions on 22 attempts for 80 yards and an interception. The interception came on a screen pass that a Woodberry defender read and returned for a touchdown.

The defense played well, only allowing 2 scores from Woodberry’s offense, but could not quite carry the Saints to a victory. OL/DL Darius Gray ‘26 and DL Drew Pendlebury ‘26 each recorded a sack, and DB Collin Johnson ‘26 and LB Charlie Edmonds ‘26 each took the ball away with an interception, with Edmonds returning his 25 yards for a pick 6.

For their next matchup, the Saints will play another prep league rival in the 6-0 Trinity Titans at home on Friday, October 17 at 6:30 pm.
