Academic Enrichment

Our academic camps can be taken just for fun, to get ahead or for review. We offer opportunities in many different areas and grade levels. Each class is sure to make learning different and exciting!
 
Academic Enrichment Camps are only offered in July and August.

Make it a Full Day at Summer Saints!

Mix and match morning and afternoon camps to create a full day with lunch included. Explore: Specialty, Athletics or Day Camp!

Build each week so the schedule works for you:
  • 7:45 - 9 a.m. Early Birds

  • 9 a.m. - Noon Morning Camp (Choose from Specialty, Athletic, Academic, or Morning Mania camps)

  • Noon - 1 p.m. Lunch & Lounge 

  • 1 - 4 p.m. Afternoon Camp (Choose from Specialty, Athletic, Academic, or Afternoon Adventures camps)

  • 4 - 5 p.m. Bonus Hour

    Junior Food Critics: Exploring Richmond One Sweet Treat at a Time

    During Junior Food Critics: Exploring Richmond One Sweet Treat at a Time, we’ll travel around Richmond on an STC bus to sample our favorite summer treats and get to know some new areas of town. Each student will be invited to taste different kinds of ice cream, cupcakes, pies, and other delicious desserts. Campers will learn the characteristics of an effective food review and write reviews of their favorite (or not-so-favorite) summer treats. Join us!

    Dive into a rainforest adventure with Aventuras en la Selva Tropical! Each day, students will meet a fascinating new animal from Spanish-speaking countries. We’ll explore where each place is on the map and uncover fun facts about the creatures that live there.
    Along the way, beginners will pick up useful Spanish vocabulary through lively storytelling, catchy songs, and exciting games that make learning feel like play.

This engaging week combines hands-on activities, interactive games, and creative challenges to strengthen key math skills in an enjoyable way. Students will review essential 4th-grade concepts and preview 5th-grade math. Boys will explore problem-solving strategies guided by the 5th-grade math teachers. With personalized support and plenty of opportunities to collaborate with peers, this camp will help prepare each boy for the upcoming school year!

    During "Intro To Fourth Grade," campers will be introduced to fourth-grade concepts showcased in the coming school year. Academically, we will focus on reading, mathematics, and social-emotional skills. We will study the concepts of story elements, inferencing, summarizing, and predicting from nonfiction texts. During math, campers will dive into multiplication and division math facts, rounding, place value, word problems, adding and subtracting larger numbers, and multiplying using different strategies. Campers will also have opportunities to work together on their social skills as they complete hands-on activities for growth in communication and expression. Free time for outside or nonacademic indoor activities will also be included for campers. All materials will be provided.

    Is reading not really your thing? Does summer reading feel a little overwhelming? Don’t worry—this camp is here to help! Reading can be possible and even (dare we say it?) fun. In this camp, you’ll learn simple, effective strategies to make reading a more positive and productive experience. We’ll practice building a reading schedule, taking meaningful reader’s notes, choosing books you actually enjoy, and more. You’ll also have dedicated time to work on your summer reading assignments. Whether you need quiet reading time, help understanding your book, or an extra set of eyes on your written work, we’ve got you covered. By the end of the week, you’ll feel confident about your summer reading—and ready to start the new school year strong!

    Step into the magical world of books and learning at our Once Upon a Time: Storybook Adventure Academic Camp for rising 1st graders! This week-long camp combines the joy of storytelling with fun, hands-on academic activities designed to boost young learners' reading, math, and critical thinking skills. Each day, we will embark on a new storybook adventure! Kids will explore beloved characters and themes through interactive lessons and creative activities. We will work on literacy skills like phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension while reinforcing key math concepts such as counting, shapes, and addition. Join us at Storybook Scholars camp—where every story is a new adventure in learning!

    Get ready for a summer full of creativity, computers, and ¡español! At Tech & Español Adventure Camp, students will explore exciting technology skills while learning Spanish in a fun, hands-on way.
    Campers will build their own digital creations—like simple games, animations, and art—using kid-friendly technology tools. Along the way, they’ll practice Spanish words and phrases about colors, numbers, greetings, animals, and more. Each day features interactive activities like coding challenges, bilingual storytelling, scavenger hunts, and cultural crafts inspired by Spanish-speaking countries.
    By the end of camp, students will feel more confident using technology and speaking Spanish, while making new friends and discovering just how fun learning can be. ¡Vamos! Join us for a tech-tastic bilingual adventure!
