Elex Continues His Assault on the Record Books at STC Upper School Meet

Coach Carrier
Competing in the two events he earned middle school records in a year ago, Elex Churchwell proved once again why he is one of the top middle school track athletes in the state.
It was an historic day for Elex as he tied his middle school record high jump from last year, clearing 5-6 again today, and getting a chance to take some cracks at 5-8.  Elex also ran the 400, the event in which he set the middle school record last season.  Running from lane 1, getting to try and chase down the field in the final heat of the 400 propelled Elex to lower his middle school record time.  He passed two upper school STC runners and was a half second from STC's top runner, Maddox White, en route to a 52.20, eclipsing his previous best (middle school record) of 53.41.  Much like his 100 time and long jump distance earlier in the year, this 400 time would have earned him a 3rd place finish at the middle school state meet (.05 seconds behind the runner up finisher) last year.  We are excited for Elex's success and, as we do with everyone on the team, look forward to him continuing to improve.
