In their second match of the season, the Saints took down FUMA with a 9-0 victory at Massey Field on Friday, August 29.
The Saints wasted no time asserting control as Mason Groome ’28, Chase Buerlein ’27, and Lucas Gordinier ’26 all found the back of the net within the first 20 minutes. The momentum carried through the rest of the half with goals from freshman Murray Mathews, senior Jack Rickards, senior Cole Butler, and a second goal from Groome, giving the Saints a seven-goal advantage at the break.
After halftime, the Saints shifted their focus to a more disciplined style of play, which still produced two more goals from Daniel Kehoe ’26 and Hayes Carithers ’26. They kept control throughout, finishing with 16 shots on goal to FUMA’s four, a testament to the Saints’ speed and pressure in the attack, while goalkeepers Connor Welch ’26 and Collin Weis ’27 anchored the defense with two saves each.
The Saints return to action on Tuesday, September 2 when they travel to Christchurch for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff.
