The varsity wrestling team did something no other Saints wrestling team has done: finish in the top five at National Preps.

The Saints finished fifth on the strength of three All-Americans - Joey Prata '16, Carter Davis '18 and Connor Alexander '19.

Prata, a two-time National Preps champ (2014, 2015), finished second at 120 pounds, finishing his senior season 53-6, and is now third in career victories in school history with 198. He's a four-time National Preps All-American (5th at 106 in 2013).

Davis broke through in impressive fashion, finishing third at 170 pounds. He went 5-1 with three pins, including one over Davidson commit Connor Fenn of Asheville, NC.

Seeded fourth at 113 was Alexander. The seedings were about right, as the talented freshman finished fifth going 5-2 on the weekend. His first season at StC was quite nice, a 40-12 record.

Gray Hart '18 (126), Jackson Turley '19 (132) and Jens Ames '18 (195) each missed All-American status by one match, losing in the round of 12, each going 3-2.

Tanner Hood '17, Pope Whitley '16, Bo Williamson '17 and Kameron Miller '16 also participated in National Preps, as the Saints took 10 wrestlers to the prestigious event. Benedictine was the next closest Virginia competitor, placing 12th.
