Lacy's slam leads Saints

StC scored six straight to top Highland.
Connor Lacy '28 hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning, leading the varsity baseball team to a 6-4 win over Division II power Highland Wednesday, April 22.

The Saints trailed 4-0 early after Highland's hot bats delivered two homers and a triple. But Hampden-Sydney commit Christian Gray '26 settled in on the mound and struck out 9 Hawks, giving up no runs the rest of the way.

The score was 4-1 when Lacy delivered his blast off the center fielder's glove, sending the StC dugout into a frenzy. Pinch runner Aiden Curtin '28 added a run in the bottom of the sixth with savvy base running, giving Gray a little cushion.

Gray then struck out two batters sandwiched around a walk, then an intentional walk, before getting Highland to groundout to end the contest.

The Saints will face Glen Allen Saturday, April 25 in the Buddy Ball Game at RF&P Park at 4 pm. The Jaguars got the best of StC 10-2 on March 30 in the Deep Run Spring Break tourney.
