A 1986 graduate of Hobart College, Dave Menges received his master's in curriculum and instruction from Teacher’s College of Columbia University. Prior to becoming the Head of Lower School at St. Christopher’s in 2001, Mr. Menges worked at the Greenwich County Day School in Connecticut, where he served as a teacher, curriculum and grade level coordinator, summer program director, and mentor for other faculty.
Mr. Menges has extensive experience directing community service and outreach programs, and is an Outward Bound instructor and program director. He currently serves on the Commonwealth Parenting Board of Directors as Program Committee chair. He was a member of Leadership Metro Richmond’s Class of 2007.
Mr. Menges, a hands-on administrator, greets boys and families in morning carpool, dismisses them in the afternoon, regularly meets with student groups, often shares stories during chapel, knows all the boys by name and teaches a current events class to all fifth graders. “Our mission to prepare boys for the broader world, to make them literate about the world we live in, is one of the main reasons I developed this course and it also allows me to get back into the classroom,” he said.
Dave and his wife, Kim, have three children: Erin, Sean, and Cara. For fun, he loves to play the guitar, exercise, read, and follow his hometown sports teams – the Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers, and Browns.
