Saints grad Easterly speaks at Veterans' Day Service
St. Christopher's School 1985 graduate Jason Easterly addressed the Upper School students at the Veterans' Day Chapel service Friday, Nov. 12.
Captain Jason Easterly doesn’t think of himself as much of a captain at all.
A defense lawyer for the Army, the 1985 graduate of St. Christopher’s School told more stories about other military heroes than himself in his talk with the Upper School students at Veterans' Day Service on Friday, Nov. 12.
Easterly’s wife, Jen, was one of them.
She was deployed to Afghanistan this past September, and Easterly thought his wife would be a better candidate to speak.
“I’m the poor substitute and I’m here,” Easterly said, beginning to get emotional. “We have to be there to support not only the soldiers that fight, but the families of those who fight.
“When they come home, let’s remember we’re all in this together.”
Easterly obviously is happy to be back home, but was even more ecstatic to be back home at St. Christopher’s to see old classmates like Ren O’Ferrall, Billy McGuire and Davis McCown, and reminisce about things like the 2-mile state championship team he was a part of.
“The smartest and brightest people I’ve ever met were at St. Chris. This is a special place.”
