Omohundro '19 commits to UVA

Decathlete also considered Michigan, Penn, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.
Elby Omohundro '19 ended his recruitment recently, and plans to continue his track and field career at the University of Virginia.

Omohundro is one of the top decathletes in the United States, and placed 11th in a national competittion this past season.

"UVA is a great place," Omohundro said. "A lot of people know my parents both went there. My dad played football there. I wanted to make my own decision...It came down to coaching. The people there are awesome, the facilities are great, and I really think I can improve as an athlete there."

Omohundro is a captain of the indoor and outdoor track teams this season along with UCLA pledge Frank Royal '19, and holds the school's triple jump record and several Performer of the Meet awards.

"I'm very excited for both guys," Saints track coach Marshall Ware said. "Nobody works harder and deserves it more. I can't wait to follow them at the next level."
