Hart '18 headed to UVA

126-pound state champ and All-American as a junior.
VISAA state champion and National Preps All-American Gray Hart '18 will continue his wrestling career at the University of Virginia.

Hart considered many schools and took a visit to VMI, but the Cavaliers were the best fit.

"It's been a long process. The recruiting process was definitely hard for me," said Hart, who leaned heavily on and thanked coach Ross Gitomer for his help. "Ultimately, UVA was the best decision academically and athletically. It's an hour away from my house. I love all of those guys over there. So I thought, just go with UVA."

Hart put up a team-high 48 wins last season on his way to the state crown at 126 pounds. He was also named second-team All-Metro and is a captain of the team this season.

"It should be a pretty good year," said Hart, who wants a team state title and top-five National Preps finish. "For myself, I want to dominate the state tournament again and win National Preps."

Hart joins Carter Davis '18 (American) as Saints wrestlers heading to the next level.
