The below letter went out to parents, faculty and staff on Tuesday, October 25.
Dear parents, faculty and staff,
It is with great pleasure that I announce that Dr. Warren Hunter will serve as St. Christopher’s Head of the Middle School, effective immediately, transitioning from his previous role as Interim Head of the Middle School.

Warren has earned this new position at St. Christopher’s, both through the arc of his career at St. Christopher’s, which has included time as a Lower, Middle, and Upper School teacher, a three-sport coach, and a Middle School Dean of Students, and also through his performance over the past four months as the School’s Interim Head of the Middle School.
For nearly 12 months I have been contemplating whether to launch a national search for the School’s next Middle School Head. In the end, I decided against conducting a search, primarily because I feel that we are blessed to have the right leader for St. Christopher’s presently in our fold, but also because I concluded that Warren did not require the sense of validation that can come from competing for a position through an exhaustive search. In my own estimation, and in listening to many voices in our Middle School and around our campus, Warren has already earned the faith and respect of the St. Christopher’s community, and the probability of an outside candidate emerging as our choice for the next leader of the Middle School was minimal.
Warren earned an undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University, a Masters of Education from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Doctor of Education, in Administration and Supervision, from the College of William and Mary. In his vision statement for the future of the Middle School, Warren stressed his desire to focus on the core values of St. Christopher’s, especially our emphasis on honor and character, on continuing the academic rigor of our program, on enhancing the role of the arts in Middle School, and on increasing diversity among our student body.
“I am incredibly humbled by this opportunity to help lead the St. Christopher's Middle School,” Warren said. “Each day I am invigorated by the excitement that the boys bring to school and the passion that the Middle School faculty has for teaching and developing relationships with each of the boys in our care. The Middle School will continue to build on a rich history of developing young men of character who value academic excellence, while focusing on effective ways to integrate innovative teaching methods and ideas in order to best prepare our boys for the future."
Please join me in congratulating Warren on this achievement, and please join him, me, and all of our faculty and staff in developing the full potential of every boy in our care at St. Christopher’s.
