Our Committee has had many thoughtful conversations about how best to acknowledge the untimely passing of our classmate and friend, Matt Mattox. Matt immersed himself into all aspects of his life at St. Christopher’s both during his time as a student, and also as a mentor, chapel speaker, and father to three young men who continue their journey as Saints.
It is with this love for our friend that we intend to call upon each of you to support, in the most earnest means available, the establishment of the Conard Blount Mattox IV 1998 Memorial Faculty Award.
This newly established faculty award will be presented annually at the end of the School year where Matt’s name and his legacy will be spoken, and therefore live in the lexicon of St. Christopher’s in perpetuity. Each recipient will be someone who is early in their teaching career with 20 years or less of teaching experience who embodies the finest of Matt’s well rounded qualities. Furthermore the recipient, selected at the Headmaster’s discretion, will holistically represent with distinction a person we as parents pray would offer tirelessly optimistic mentorship to our sons.
Members of our Reunion Committee have already generously stepped forward with their own pledges in appreciation for St. Christopher’s, Matt’s legacy, and our 25th Reunion. Similarly, we hope you each will consider joining us in support of the Conard Blount Mattox IV ’98 Memorial Faculty Award, and what it represents: an ongoing commitment to an investment in the recruitment and financial support for the personal and professional growth of young educators.
