Saints Dominate On Senior Night

by Tal Horton '28
Last weekend, the Saints wrestled three different schools in two meets, away at Poquoson High School, and at home against Collegiate and St. John Paul the Great. The latter served as the Saints' Senior Day, with a dominant showing against their opponents.

At Poquoson, the Saints dominated 40-24, opening the weekend with a powerful victory. Braxton Rankin '29, Witt Wood '27, Bradley Ament '28, Noah Rankin '26, Asher Anthony '29, Eric Pendlebury '26, Drew Pendlebury '26, and Lance Clelland '27 all picked up wins in the away victory.

The win at Poquoson would serve as an omen for good things to come for the Saints, with a pair of shutout wins to celebrate the Saints' senior wrestlers. The Saints defeated St. John Paul the Great 76-0 and Collegiate 80-0. Such a powerful victory on Senior Day, especially against a rival, shows the power of this Saints team.

A number of non-regular starters showed their strengths Saturday, picking up great victories, including Justin Hires '26, Dylan Houchins '28, and Banks Lambeth-Butler '28. The Saints not only dominated, but did so in an assertive fashion, with Saints wrestlers recording 60 takedowns and only giving up one.

The Saints will compete next on Wednesday, February 4 where they will compete for another Virginia Prep League Title at Collegiate down River Road.
