  • Jim Jump

    Jim Jump joined St. Christopher’s in 1990, and currently serves as Academic Dean and Director of College Counseling. He teaches Public Speaking, serves as an assistant coach for both the varsity baseball and basketball teams, and is also an advisor to the Honor Council, but his passion is working with students on the college search process.

    Jim holds the B.A. degree from Randolph-Macon College and the M.A. from the University of Delaware, and previously served as an admissions officer, philosophy professor, and women’s basketball coach at the college level.

    Jim is a former President of the National Association for College Admission Counseling, and he is the only person to win both of the top awards presented by NACAC’s regional affiliate, the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling. He has been interviewed on National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered,” quoted on the front page of the New York Times, and also quoted in publications ranging from Time to the Washington Post to the Chronicle of Higher Education to Teen Vogue. He is also the author of an influential and widely-read blog devoted to the ethics of college admission.
  • Scott Mayer

    Scott Mayer, Associate Director of College Counseling, joined St. Christopher’s in 2005 after previously spending 13 years in college admissions at the University of Richmond and Lafayette College.  He also serves as 11th grade chair, AP coordinator, and helps coach junior varsity baseball.
     
    Scott holds the B.B.A. degree from the College of William and Mary and the M.A degree from the University of Richmond.  He serves as By-Laws chair for the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling and is the regional coordinator for the summer Governor’s School selection process.  He is also the foremost authority on Richmond’s baseball history and author of Baseball and Richmond: A History of the Professional Game, 1884-2000.
  • Ginny Turner

    Ginny is a graduate of St. Catherine’s and the College of William and Mary, where she majored in English and won four letters on a nationally-ranked field hockey team while being selected to the Division I North-South Senior All-Star team. She then moved into college coaching for fifteen years at Davidson College, including the last 13 as Head Field Hockey Coach. While there she transitioned the team into the Atlantic 10 conference and was a two-time Coach of the Year. Ginny is currently the Assistant Varsity Field Hockey Coach at St. Catherine’s and also coaches the Focus Field Hockey Club team.
