Summer Institute on Leadership and Public Service (SILPS) participants focus on social justice in Richmond

The program empowers students from across the metro Richmond area with skills to initiate change within their communities.
The 2018 cohort of the Summer Institute on Leadership and Public Service (SILPS) began on Wednesday, June 20. The program is committed to teaching high school students that, through public service and civic responsibility, they can forge relationships and discover avenues to initiate change within their communities.  SILPS brings together a diverse group of students from the Richmond metropolitan area who, through exposure to a variety of issues currently facing their community, will come to understand ethical leadership through service.

The Summer Institute for 2018 will continue its focus on Social Justice.  This year, the Institute will partner with nonprofit organizations including Reestablish Richmond, The Faison School, Sportable, Shepherd's Way, and the James River Park System
