The Saints started the season off on the right foot this past weekend, with meets at both Henrico High School and McDonogh School in Maryland. StC wrestled in both the Warrior Stampede and Ray Oliver Tournament over the December 5-7 weekend.
The Saints had a great showing at Henrico’s Warrior Stampede, with William Sutten ‘26 taking home second place in the 165, Justin Hires ‘26 finishing sixth in the 150, and Dylan Houchins ‘28 achieving eighth in the 157.
St. Christopher’s also saw success at McDonogh’s Ray Oliver Tournament, with a number of wrestlers placing top eight and the team placing second as a whole. Drew Roggie ‘26 (132) and Noah Rankin ‘26 (138) both won their respective competitions, Eric Pendlebury ‘26 (175) placed third, and Miles Hinson ‘26 (157), Vake Martin ‘27 (215), and Lance Clelland ‘27 (285) all finishing fourth. Braxton Rankin ‘29 (106) and Griffin Van der Waag ‘26 (150) both placed fifth, Bradley Ament ‘28 (126) finished sixth, and Max Behrooz ‘28 (113) placed eighth. Every Saints wrestler who attended the event won at least one match.
The Saints hope to continue shaping their season well at Walsh Jesuit HS’s Ironman Tournament in Ohio starting on Friday, December 12.
