The varsity lacrosse team went on the road and topped Christchurch 11-10 in the VISAA quarterfinals Tuesday, May 13.
Holding the final margin with 7 seconds left, StC guarded a Christchurch dodge behind the cage. CCS found a cutting Seahorse open to the left of the crease. StC goalie Hayden Regan '25 (12 saves) showed tremendous instincts, turning quickly and saving the shot and perhaps StC's season.
The Saints, seeded fifth, trailed the No. 4 Seahorses 4-0 after one period, but evened the score at 4 at halftime and led 8-7 going into the pivotal fourth. Harrison Fuller '25 put the Saints up for good with 3:15 remaining in the contest.
Bowan Ireland '27 led the Saints with four goals. He now has 100 points on the season (65 G, 35 A), a school record. Charlie Edmonds '26 had 3 goals and 2 assists, Hugh Mack '27 threw in 2 goals and had 2 assists, Fuller had a goal and two assists, and T Gehring '27 also hit the back of the net for the Saints.
StC awaits its semifinal opponent, as No. 1 St. Anne's-Belfield and No. 8 Norfolk Academy have yet to play its quarterfinal match in Charlottesville. They are scheduled for Thursday, May 15. The Saints will likely play Saturday at the higher seed remaining.
