Saints 100% Improvement Makes Headlines

Coach Carrier
It is amazing what three weeks did for the Saints as they attacked the same Roslyn course they raced back on September 17th.
1.  EVERYONE improved from the first Roslyn meet 3 weeks ago.  Lawson, Paul, Wickham, and Tate each dropped over 2:00 while Charlie, Hudson, Teddy, and LB each dropped over 1:10.  James and Davis also dropped at least 30 seconds from the previous Roslyn race.

2.  ALMOST EVERYONE ran a faster final split than their second split, showing the cumulative strength of our training really kicking in.  LB (+2) and Charlie (+9) were the only 2 guys to add time from split 2 to split 3, but kudos to them for being aggressive early in the race and trusting themselves to hang on enough during the second half of the race.  With time drops of 1:42 and 1:13, clearly it worked out okay for them!

3.  All of our finishers ran 19:33 or faster today.  Other than the 2018 squad whose final STC finisher was 18:15, I think this year may have been the 2nd fastest final STC runner to cross the line at Roslyn.  I realize along the line that various runners may have not run due to injury, but this is still a cool stat to show another strength of our team that doesn't always get credit if they are not in the scoring 5 or 7.

4.  Davis now ranks as the 7th STC runner on this course, and 13th overall, occupying the final "big name" on the Roslyn record board (top 7 get a full size name on the record board in my room and the 8th-21st runners get a half size name).  Davis also achieved the perfect 4 for 4 in sub-15:00 times on Roslyn, breaking 15:00 in both of his 7th grade Roslyn races and both his 8th grade Roslyn races.  I believe he is the only STC MS runner to have achieved that feat as many of the guys on the sub-15:00 list did not make their way onto it until 8th grade or the 2nd race of 7th grade.

5.  Although scoring is not near the top of our list in terms of goals, it was nice to move up from 8th to 4th, beating 4 teams that beat us at the first Roslyn race, as well as Lourdes who did not have a full 5 to score.  We did add Hunter School to this meet, otherwise we would have been 3rd behind Collegiate.  Compared to the last race, Davis moved up 1 spot, LB moved up 17 spots, James moved up 7 spots, Hudson moved up 14 spots, and Charlie moved up 9 spots.  Those 48 cumulative spots from our top 5 not only helped us, but also helped increase the scores of other teams.  Teddy's 9-spot improvement and Lawson's 21-spot improvement also helped bring up the Seven Hills and St. Michael's scores as both of our guys got in front of several of the top 5 from those two schools.
