Dumps Norfolk Academy 7-2, falls to St. Joseph's (PA) 9-7.
The varsity baseball team opened the season with a 7-2 win at Norfolk Academy Friday. Jack English '13 and Caleb Setliff '15 went yard for the Saints.
Cody Valenzuela '15 put together a nice game, going 2 for 3 at the plate with two runs and throwing five innings of shutout ball. Matt Dunlevy went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI as well.
The Saints returned home Saturday and fell 9-7 to Pennsylvania's St. Joseph's Prep. Five early runs for the visitors put the Saints on their heels, trailing 5-1.
StC had a no-out, runners on second and third situation in the fifth inning with the heart of the lineup ahead, but came up with no runs.
Senior Porter Reinhart's three-run bomb led a five run sixth, but the Saints couldn't muster enough runs. Charlie Yorgen '13 was perfect at the plate (4 for 4) with a triple and three RBI.
The squad returns to action with a home doubleheader versus Greenbrier Christian at 11 am and Liberty Christian at 2:30 pm.
