Hollerith, Janis shine at Beast of East and Met Challenge.
The past two weeks have been very successful for the Saints wrestling program, especially for juniors Robert Janis and Marshall Hollerith.
Janis and Hollerith both placed at the prestigious Beast of the East tournament at the University of Delaware that had seven Saints participate, the most in the three appearances by St. Christopher's in the 19-year history of the event.
Janis placed sixth (he was seeded seventh), and Hollerith finished eighth, two slots over his 10th seed.
The duo followed up the impressive performances by going 5-0 at the Met-Challenge at Hayfield High School right before the Christmas weekend.
Senior Quent Alcorn joined Janis and Hollerith with a 5-0 record, helping the Saints to a 3-2 dual record, with two close single-digit losses caused primarily because of forfeits (travel issues). William Kelly '14 and Tyler Cornett '12 took 4-1 records.
"The boys are continuing to become more proficient with the system of wrestling that we are putting in place," coach John Gordon said. "As each week passes I see them executing our attack more effectively and with more confidence.
"The entire group must remain committed to continuous improvement in order to reach our end of February goals."
The Saints return to action January 6 at the Millbrook Mayhem in Winchester, VA.
