Ganon Hingst '14 ripped off 122 rushing yards, and Marshall Hollerith '13 scored two third-quarter TDs to lead the varsity football team over Pope John Paul the Great 24-9 Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.

The Fall Festival crowd had a sigh of relief once Hollerith went in from eight yards out with 4:53 left in the third quarter to go ahead 17-2.

The pesky Wolves and their Wing-T or single-wing offense were much different than anything the Saints had seen all season.  Couple that with arguably the Saints' worst performance of the season, and things weren't looking so cozy.

The defense forced a Wolves punt and the Saints went 49 yards in four plays, the last an 18-yard hit from Giles Thompson '14 to Hollerith.

John Paul added a score halfway through the fourth period, but would do no more damage as the Saints moved to 6-1.

Sam O'Ferrall '13 picked up his sixth interception of the season in the first period as John Paul had goal-to-go. It was arguably the play of the game as the Saints went 86 yards in four plays, capped by a 5-yard Miles Jackson '12 TD.

The key play was a 64-yard jaunt from Hingst.

The Saints will visit Episcopal Saturday, October 22 at 1:30 p.m.
