The 7th Grade Football Team played a controlled scrimmage against Kanawha, and the young Saints were impressive in all phases of the game. On offense, the team converted three of their five offensive drives into touchdowns. The offense was able to move the ball effectively on the ground and in the air, as they demonstrated a balanced attack against the visiting Redskins. In addition, the Saints were stingy on defense and successfully held their opponents out of the end zone.
While the the Redskins struggled at times, all in attendance were impressed by the effort and determination of the Kanawha players. I'm certain that we will see many of the Kanawha players starring for various schools throughout the Central Region down the road. I applaud the effort and sportsmanship from both squads, and I thank all of the fans that came out for providing a wonderful atmosphere for the boys!
