St. Christopher's graduate Austin Wates '07 was honored for his stellar minor-league baseball season in the Houston Astros' organization.
The former Virginia Tech star was named MVP of the Lancaster (Calif.) JetHawks, the top Class A team of Houston.
The outfielder hit .300 with six homers, 23 doubles and 75 RBI and swiped 26 bases. Wates is slated to move up in the organization for the 2012 season.
