St. Christopher's senior wrestler David Wesley was named first-team All-Metro Friday, and sophomore Robert Janis collected second team honors.
Wesley, a 152-pounder, finished the season at 55-6, winning his second state championship and finishing third in the national prep tournament. He also was state runner-up as a freshman and sophomore, and finished third as an eighth grader in the state championships.
No wonder he is the school's career wins leader (210).
Headed to Virginia in the fall to continue his wrestling career, this is Wesley's third straight first-team All-Met selection.
This is Janis' first time on the All-Metro team, but certainly not his last if he continues the pace that he created this year.
He won a state championship at 130 pounds, going 47-12 after an 18-17 season as a freshman that included a third-place finish at the state tournament.
David Wesley ran threw opponents out of the way on his way to his third straight first-team All-Metro honor.
Robert Janis has two more years to put his mark on the illustrious St. Christopher's wrestling program. A second-team All-Metro selection is a solid start.
