The varsity baseball team finished an epic 11-inning battle, topping Trinity Episcopal 4-3 Friday, and then ousted Woodberry Forest in a completion of a suspended game to win the Prep League crown.
Saints catcher Caleb Setliff '15 delivered the winning RBI to drop the Titans, providing three hits and two RBI on the day. StC knocked out 14 hits, including three from Sam Griffin '15, two from Ross Abrash '16 and two from Jeb Bemiss '16, including a homer.
Bemiss was the winning pitcher, as he teamed with starter Cody Valenzuela '15 and Wolf Sarhan '14 to give up only six hits to TES.
The next day the Saints beat Woodberry Forest 10-9 to clinch the Prep League outright. Giles Thompson '14 was the winning pitcher.
Now it's on to the state VISAA quarterfinals. The No. 3 Saints host Flint Hill, the sixth seed, at 4 pm Tuesday at Jacobs Field.
