Wesley named wrestler of the year

Virginia Wrestling Hall of Fame honors Virginia-bound star.
The wrestling season's over, but David Wesley '11 is still piling up the honors.

The U.Va.-bound senior was named the Central Region wrestler of the year by the Virginia Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame recently.

Wesley, along with two other wrestlers from different regions, will be honored with the Red Robertson Award on Saturday, April 23rd at a banquet at the Crossings of Richmond.

Wesley registered a career 210-34 record - the most wins in school history - including a 55-6 mark this season, good for the most wins by a Saint in one season.

He placed in the state meet five times in his career, starting with a third-place finish as an eighth grader, winning twice (2010, 11).

He's one of only two St. Christopher's wrestlers to earn All-American honors three times. Kevin Donahue is the other.
