Afternoon Enrichment

Learning and Exploration beyond the Academic Day

St. Christopher’s Afternoon Enrichment program provides opportunities for learning and exploration beyond the academic day. Classes are open to all students in the Lower School and are offered in three sessions: Fall (September-November), Winter (January-March), and Spring (March-May).

Afternoon Enrichment is a separate program from Extended Day. All Lower School boys are welcome to register for Afternoon Enrichment. Students enrolled in Extended Day will be escorted to their classroom at the end of their Afternoon Enrichment class.

    • On days when St. Christopher’s is closed, afternoon enrichment is also closed.
    • Refund requests must be made in writing and sent to Janine Davila, Director of Auxiliary Operations, at AfternoonEnrichment@stcva.org. All refunds will be made less $50.00. No refunds will be issued after the session begins.

  • Brilliant Builders - Applying Programming, Technology, & Engineering Skills

    Grades: 3rd-5th 
    Dates: Thursdays (8 weeks) March 28 - May 16
    Time: 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
    Cost: $145
    Carpool Location: Pepper Avenue Carpool Loop

    Our brilliant builders will use awesome technology tools such as: LEGO®, Makey Makeys, Ozobots, Dash, and/or LEGO® Spike Prime Robotics to examine the design process in order to solve real-world problems with Ms. Warren. This session explores a unique combination of great challenges and fun for all budding engineers!


  • Clay, Paint & More! (Wednesdays)

    Grades: 3rd-5th 
    Dates: Wednesdays (8 weeks) March 27 - May 15
    Time: 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

    This Mixed-Media class is a collage of artistic experiences rooted in one fundamental creative principle – to provide children with the foundation that will inform and inspire their vision and imagination. We will explore line, shape, color, texture, shape, and pattern through creative 2D and 3D works of art. We will be creating and exploring drawing and painting techniques, collage, and sculpture, all in a variety of mediums and styles. The study of famous artists will be introduced through age-appropriate literature and vibrant visuals. This class is dedicated to providing children with inventive art instruction and projects that will enhance their creative problem-solving skills, as well as encourage out-of-the-box expression. All materials are provided. ALL NEW LESSONS with Lower School Art Teacher, Meg Foster!

    Our brilliant builders will use technology tools and applications to become creative builders, coders, and engineers. From Dash, to Code-a-pillars, to Ozobots, to Scratch Jr. and more, our brilliant builders will explore a unique combination of great challenges and fun with Ms. Warren!
  • Endorphin Fitness Run & Strength

    Grade: 3rd-5th
    Dates: Tuesdays (8 weeks) March 26 - May 14
    Time: 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
    Cost: $165
    Carpool Location: Pepper Avenue Carpool Loop

    Endorphin Fitness Run & Strength teaches the foundations of running and bodyweight strength training in a fun, energizing way. Professional youth coaches will lead participants in age-specific training that lays a foundation for a lifetime of success. Endorphin Fitness coaches have coached youth runners and triathletes at the highest levels and were awarded the US Youth Coach of the Year by USA Triathlon.
  • Soccer Shots I

    Grades: JK-K  
    Dates: Thursdays (8 weeks) March 26 - May 14

    Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on individual skill and character development. Players will be provided an opportunity to be challenged with soccer skill-building, fitness, fun games, and team interaction. Children will also be introduced to competition in a developmentally appropriate manner. 
  • Soccer Shots II

    Grades: 1st - 2nd

    Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on individual skill and character development.     Come shoot hoops with Head JV Coach, Mr. Vick, and fellow Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Gallienne! We will learn about ball-handling, passing, defensive positioning, and shooting through drills and games. We will also talk through the "soft skills" of the game such as sportsmanship, emotional regulation, and patience in a memorable way. Your junior kindergartener will have a ton of fun developing his basketball skills each week!
