Swimming, 4th straight state title

The swimming and diving team won its fourth straight VISAA title Saturday, Feburary 17.

The Saints scored 230 points to outpace Prep League members Norfolk Academy and Trinity Episcopal (217, 2nd), Collegiate (164, 4th) and St. Anne's-Belfield (150, 5th).

Leading the way was Alex Gertner '25. He won the 200-yard freestyle in a school-record time of 1:41.15, then helped the 400 free relay team tie the school record in 3:08.92 with Ryan Smith '26, Ben Franks '27 and Edward Johnson '26, earning second place.

"The care, love, and passion these swimmers and divers have for one another were on full display this past weekend," said Saints coach Bucka Watson, who was named state coach of the year.
