Soccer moves to VISAA Semis

Hale's header, Walmsley's save highlight win.
The varsity soccer team won a thriller over Potomac School 2-0 Monday in the VISAA quarterfinals.

The Saints, seeded second, will face #6 Bishop O'Connell Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 pm at City Stadium in the semifinals. #6 Norfolk Academy and #2 Cape Henry Collegiate will tangle in the 5:30 semi.

Potomac controlled play for most of the first half, though StC had the best attempts on goal. Finally, in the 65th minute, Eli Bemiss '20 put a beauty of a corner on the head of Curtis Hale '22, and the lengthy middie struck for the game's first goal.

Seemingly immediately after, Potomac peppered StC keeper Robert Walmsley '21 as the Saints were called for a handball in the box, awarding a penalty kick to the #7 seed. But Walmsley was up to the task, stopping the attempt. Soon after, StC scored the final goal on a counter attack by Gerard Broussard '20 to secure the victory.

Wednesday's game will be the first matchup of the season between the Knights and Saints. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased in advance at TicketSpicket.com.
