Jackson Turley '19, ranked the sixth best 182-pound wrestler in the United States, committed to Rutgers recently.

Turley picked the Scarlet Knights over a long list of suitors, including Maryland, Indiana and Virginia Tech.

"I just really liked it," Turley said. "They have a great wrestling progarm. I like the atmosphere there a lot. The coaches are really welcoming. They just took me in as soon as I got off the airplane."

Turley is coming off his third state VISAA title and will wrestle at 182 pounds this year. He's a two-time National Preps runner-up, and the first-team All-Metro pick has also performed very well in other national events.

"I think it's great that Jackson is going to Rutgers," wrestling coach Ross Gitomer said. "It's a solid institution, and they are a team that is knocking on the door nationally and in the Big Ten. Jackson has the ability to be an unbelievable college wrestler, and I think his academic, athletic and life habits will only improve at Rutgers."

The Saints cruised to a team state title in 2018, and Turley, a captain along with Connor Alexander '19, is looking to help the Saints start a new streak.

"We've got some young kids that are going to be really good this year and really good in the future," Turley said. "I'm looking forward to getting another state championship."
