Saints Stumble to Woodberry on Game Winning Field Goal

This past Saturday the varsity football team took on the Woodberry Forest Tigers and fell 31-28. The game started out slow for the Saints as Woodberry took a 14-0 lead in the first half, but the Saints bounced back with two touchdowns of their own - one a 40-yard pass to Will Hayes '19, who finished with 124 yards and 2 touchdowns and the other a one-yard run from the quarterback, Patrick Routsis '19.
Routsis connected for 257 total yards and 3 touchdowns on the day. Routsis' other touchdown was an 18-yard touchdown pass to junior Nigel Green. The Saints defensive side of the ball was led by Jeff Moore '20, who totaled 9 tackles, 1 sack, and 2 tackles for loss.
Throughout the second half, the Saints and Tigers traded scores back and forth, but the Tigers got the last possession and drilled a 28-yard field goal as time expired.
Next up for the Saints is a trip to Norfolk Academy Friday, Sept. 21 at 6:30 pm.
