The baseball team's motto was "All In."

Now every mark they aimed to achieve are all in the record books.

The Saints downed Norfolk Academy 7-2 in the state VISAA final Monday, finishing the season at 24-1, and a perfect 10-0 in the Prep League. It's the first time baseball has finished unbeaten in league play in 35 years, and the first state title since the 2013 crew led by Charlie Yorgen '13 (East Carolina), Porter Reinhart '13 (William & Mary) and Jack English '13 (Virginia, football).

The Saints started off a little tight and shaky, trailing 2-0 early. The jitters went away when Roanoke-bound Hunter Andrews '18 lifted a two-run bomb to left-center, close to where Biddison ended Collegiate's season a day earlier.

Patrick Routsis '19 effectively ended the game on a bases-loaded double in the sixth. After pitching a strong 6 1/3 innings, he gave way to Nick Biddison to finish off the Bulldogs. He touched 92 mph on the radar gun as he got the final out on a chopper back to the mound.

Prep League and All-State teams were released after the game. Donovan Murphy '18, Maddison Furman '18, and Routsis were named first-team all-state by the VISAA, along with state and Prep League player of the year Biddison. Andrews joined the aforementioned players on the all-Prep League team.

Coach Tony Szymendera was Prep League and state VISAA coach of the year.
