Last month, in conjunction with the Visual Arts Center of Richmond and the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, Candela Books and Gallery recognized Dhykwon Smith's '19 unique personal voice and vision as expressed through his photography. Dhykwon received the award at the Gold Key Ceremony at Binford Middle School on Feb 24. The above image is one of Dhykwon's winning photographs. 

"Dhykwon's work is often very personal, about his life in the East End and his friends and family," says Digital Arts teacher Amanda Livick. 

Dhykwon's photography is in the running for a national award that will be announced March 13. Stay tuned for an update!
