William Tappen '18 is the fourth Saint from the class of 2018 to commit to play football.
Tappen chose to take a walk-on spot with James Madison. He also considered William & Mary and VMI.
Playing both on the offensive and defensive lines, Tappen had a strong year, being named All-Prep and All-State after posting six sacks and 13 tackles for loss, both first on the team. Tappen also had a strong performance in the Big River Rivalry All-Star Game in December with 2.5 sacks.
"It was great to play with a bunch of other guys going to play college football," said Tappen, who noted he suited up with future JMU LB Mateo Jackson from Hermitage. "It was just a great experience."
