Marshall Croft '98 speaks in Upper School chapel in observance of Veteran's Day

Croft, a veteran of the United States Navy, encouraged the boys to thank veterans for their service.
Marshall Croft '98 spoke in Upper School chapel on Friday, Nov. 10 in observance of Veteran's Day.

After graduating from St. Christopher's, Marshall attended the U.S Naval Academy where he played lacrosse. He spoke about how the world changed during his four years at the academy, starting as a freshman during peace time and ending as a senior in the wake of 9/11 when the country was on the brink of war.

"[9/11] changed the entire world for us. We'd gone in at peace time, we were going to leave at war, " Marshall said. "Our whole class felt it and knew it ... it was going to be different."

Marshall encouraged the boys to thank veterans for their service when they have the opportunity. "It meant a lot to me to have somebody come up to me when I was in uniform and thank me for my service — especially when it was someone young."

Thank you, Marshall for your service, and thank you for sharing your time and experience with us this morning.
