Varsity Football Downs SS/SA in OT

The varsity football team defeated St. Stephen's & St. Agnes 21-20 in overtime on Saturday. After CJ Lyons scored on a 10-yard run, kicker Chris Rainey had an opportuniy to send the game into a second overtime with a PAT, but his kick was blocked by DayMone' Fleming '19.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes struck first with a 36-yard pass from Lyons to Malcolm Johnson at the end of the first quarter. St. Christopher's responded when Justin Jasper '18 broke free to catch a 52-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Routsis '19. Routsis finished the game 12 for 23 for 178 yards and one touchdown.

The Saints' rushing attack totaled 222 rushing yards and two touchdowns with four different running backs. Hayden Forrest '20 rushed 12 times for 84 yards, and captain Jens Ames '18 picked up 15 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Hartley Jordan '19 led the team with 96 yards and what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown in overtime.

Fleming had a monster game to lead the Saints' defense with 13 total tackles, including 3 TFL and a sack. Linebacker Charlie Boggs '19 added 8.5 tackles and William Tappen '18 had 6 tackles and a sack. Senior cornerback Logan Hingst had 4.5 tackles and his second interception in as many games.

The Saints will face Woodberry Forest on the road on Saturday at 2 PM.
