Shawn Moore responds to Charlottesville violence

Director of Community and Inclusion calls for unity in the wake of violence
Director of Community and Inclusion and Associate Director of Admissions Shawn Moore wrote an op-ed that ran in the The Daily Progress shortly after the tragic violence in Charlottesville earlier this month. Moore, who played football at the University of Virginia, recalls the unity he felt as a member of the football team that transcended racial and cultural boundaries. Moore writes, "Neither race, religion, nor nationality came into play. We were equal. We learned from each other, and today many of those guys are not only my friends, I consider them my brothers."

Moore attibutes many of the successes in his career as an educator to lessons he learned on the football field. "The values I learned on the football field have become a seeming rarity," he explains. As Director of Community and Inclusion and Associate Director of Admissions at St. Christopher's, Moore is committed to helping young people understand the importance of learning from all cultural, racial, and ethnic groups.
