Lower School boys serve CARITAS

Fifth Graders build kitchen tables and bed frames for people exiting homelessness
Recently fifth grade boys--with the help of members of our maintenance team--built kitchen tables and bed frames for families served by CARITAS.

CARITAS (Congregations Around Richmond to Assure Shelter) helps our most vulnerable neighbors break the cycles of addiction and homelessness to reclaim their dignity.

The project was a part of the Lower School's Service Learning initatives, overseen by Lower School Chaplain Joe Torrence.

"The boys were able to serve undersourced families by building things they need from the groundup," says Mr. Torrence. "Many of them had never learned to use a drill or other tools, so this was a good learning moment for them as well."
