HARRISONBURG - The varsity soccer team continues to progress, finishing 2-1 for fifth place in the Menno Classic at Eastern Mennonite Saturday.

After a tough 2-1 loss to Carlisle in the first round on Friday - a game in which the lads were in control most of the contest - the Saints dropped Christchurch 1-0 then halted Liberty Christian Academy 5-1. (Carlisle eventually won the tournament, 3-1 over Benedictine).

In the Christchurch win, Will Abbott '13 registered an impressive goal in the 30th minute and the defense did the rest to advance to the consolation bracket final.

There, the Saints received two goals each from Doug West '13 and Logan Ende '15, and one from Ned Ende '13.

Abbott, Ned Ende and Porter Reinhart '13 were named to the all-tournament team. It is the second all-tournament bid this season for Abbott and Reinhart, who made the Soucek team after a second-place finish.

The Saints return home Tuesday, Sept. 18 hosting rival Collegiate.
