The varsity baseball team scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth en route to a 5-2 victory over Mechanicsville to win the Deep Run Spring Break Classic Wednesday, April 6.

The Saints dropped host Deep Run 10-8 on Saturday, and followed that with a 7-3 victory over Benedictine Monday in the semifinals. 

Catcher Carter Schmitt '22 (Randolph-Macon commit) earned tourney MVP honors, delivering 6 RBIs while going 6 for 11 in the three-game set. 

In the win over the Mustangs, Henry Knighton '25 pitched four strong innings for the Saints, only allowing one hit. Then in the sixth, Luke Gathright '22 delivered two RBI to get the offense rolling. Sterling Austin (Hampden-Sydney) also had an RBI. Jacob Carnley '22 was the winning pitcher.

The Saints will face the Cadets again Saturday, April 9 at 7 pm at RF&P Park.
