Senior Will Bruner claimed All-Prep honors in the Prep League cross country championship at Panorama Farms in Charlottesville. Using his well-honed sprinting skills in the last 1000 meters, Will picked off 4 runners on the final uphill to finish eleventh overall in 17:40.
The Cross Country team finished fifth (123) behind powerful Trinity Episcopal (32, their third consecutive title), Woodberry Forest (53), Fork Union (74, and Collegiate (84).
Jack Jiranek '15 29th (18:48), Liam Boland '15 31st (18:51), Mitchell Phillips '13 36th (19:22) and Zeb Gordon '16 (19:36) set personal bests to round out StC's top five.
A week later in the state meet at Woodberry Forest, Bruner led the Saints again, running 18:09.06 for a 21st place finish. Overall the team placed 12th as Boland (19:15.92), Gordon (19:38.76), Jiranek (19:39.79) and Graeme Alderman (19:47.74) completed StC's top five.
