Barlow, Cottrell, Farinholt headed to Division III schools.
Seniors Cameron Barlow, Blair Farinholt and Sam Cottrell will continue their athletic careers beyond St. Christopher's.
Barlow, a football and track standout, will play on the gridiron at Christopher Newport University, joining former Saints lineman Ben Thompson '11.
"It's always had that family feel at CNU," said Barlow, who will play cornerback. "I went down there a couple of times and got to talk to the coaches. I just want to be a part of something that's going well."
Farinholt, a Division-I caliber lacrosse player, has picked Denison in Granville, Ohio.
"It's usually top 10," Farinholt said of the usually nationally-ranked program. "I like the small nature of the school. I enjoyed going up on my visits. The guys on the team are nice, and my brother's there (Bart '09), which is also a plus."
The Big Red are ranked 11th (USILA) and 15th (LaxPower) in two national polls for the 2012 season, after sharing a piece of the North Coast Athletic Conference title in 2011.
Another lacrosse future collegian is Cottrell, who has cast his lot with Roanoke College.
A talented defenseman entering his fourth year on the varsity team, Cottrell will be counted on heavily this season with departures from Thompson Brown (Virginia football) and Jack Foster (Holy Cross) from last year's state finalist.
The Maroon were national semifinalists last season, finishing 17-4 and are riding a 21-game win streak in Old Dominion Athletic Conference contests. Roanoke boasts a preseason No. 3 ranking by the USILA and LaxPower.
"They're a very good and strong program," Cottrell said. "They've had a bunch success over the past years. I went up to the campus this past summer and really fell in love with it.
"It's a small school, really similar to St. Chris."
