JV Soccer Win Debut Against Christchurch

by Harry Byrd '27
On Tuesday, September 2, the Saints' JV squad had its debut game against Christchurch. The Saints went on to win 4-2.

The first half of the match was a battle, where both teams kept trading possessions. Both keepers were shutting down everything inside the box. It wasn't until the last two minutes of the half that tragedy struck for the Saints. The Christchurch striker snuck one past the Saints' goalie and put them up 1-0.

The Saints got to work at the start of the second half, where the freshman Corbett Kessel put one on the board for the Saints, making the score 1-1.

The sophomore Kyan Patel slid another one past the Christchurch keeper, not only ten minutes later. Then, five minutes after that, the sophomore Avi Meyrieux scored a banger for the Saints to expand on their lead.

Nearing the end of the game, the Christchurch striker put another one past the keeper. But then Asa Martinez '28 put one in for the Saints.

The Saints then defended wonderfully the rest of the game to secure the victory.

The JV will take the field again Thursday, September 4 at home versus Cristo Rey at 5 p.m.
