Tony Szymendera

Director of Strategic Priorities
An English major at Haverford College, Tony Szymendera joined St. Christopher’s in 1986 as an Upper School English Teacher and Coach.  During his early years at the school, Tony served as Director of Student Activities, Dean of Students, and Director of Upper School while also teaching English and history and coaching football, basketball, and baseball. He has been recognized with the Armstrong Jennings Faculty Prize for the development of student leadership as well as the Albert “Petey” Jacobs Award for excellence in coaching. The Varsity Baseball Head Coach since 1988, Tony has led teams to numerous Prep League and VISAA state titles as well as regional and national rankings. Along the way, he has collected league and state coach of the year honors as well.

Tony earned his master's degree in education from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is the proud father of a St. Christopher's graduate and two alumnae of St. Catherine’s School, where his wife teaches math in the Upper School.
