Dick Kemper

2026 Recipient of The Great Saint Honorary Alumni Award
A cornerstone of the St. Christopher’s community for over four decades, Richard H. "Dick" Kemper Jr. perfectly embodies the spirit of the inaugural Great Saint Honorary Alumnus Award.
Serving the School from 1964 to 2006, Kemper left an indelible mark across campus as a history teacher, lower school PE director, athletic director and head varsity football coach for 28 years. Known for his remarkable zest for life, he possessed a unique capacity to mentor boys from kindergarten through their senior year, guiding them to choose the "hard right over the easy wrong." His unparalleled devotion—a trait passed down from his father, Richard H. Kemper, Class of 1927—extended far beyond the classroom to teach invaluable life lessons rooted in character, determination, and ethical leadership. Honored by the Class of 1986 through a scholarship in his name, Coach Kemper remains a steadfast champion of the "magic of this place," having dedicated his heart and soul to shaping generations of Saints into young men of true integrity.
