Marco A. De León ’08

2026 Recipient of Young Alumni Achievement Award
Frustrated by the high-sugar options filling grocery aisles, Marco A. De León ’08 co-founded Rip Van out of his college dorm room to prove that convenient snacks could be both delicious and health-conscious.
From launching a grassroots Kickstarter campaign and living out of a station wagon during early distribution runs, Marco scaled the low-sugar snack brand into a national disruptor. Today, Rip Van’s award-winning products are sold in over 20,000 retail locations nationwide—including Starbucks, Costco, and Whole Foods—earning Marco a coveted spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list and cementing his role as a leading innovator in the modern food industry. Grateful for his roots, Marco acknowledges the guidance and mentorship of fellow St. Christopher’s alumni who helped lay the groundwork for his entrepreneurial journey.
