The class of 2015 picked up its sixth commitment as Jacob Hale '15 will attend Christopher Newport and play lacrosse.
Hale is the fourth lacrosse player from the Saints in the class of 2015 that will continue playing in college. Wilson Bedell and Parker Widhelm will attend Furman, and Fleet Wallace is headed to Cornell.
Hale had an outstanding season in 2014, pouring in 34 goals, tied for second on the team, to help the Saints to the state final.
"I really worked on becoming more of an off-ball player," said Hale, who knew guys like John Burke Jr. '14 (Hampden-Sydney), Chandler Shaheen '14 (Hampden-Sydney) and Wallace would have the ball a bunch. "They draw so much attention.
"[This season] I'm going to work on being more of a dodger and creating offense on my own."
Hale also considered Randolph-Macon and Roanoke, but CNU was the best fit.
"I really like the campus. The coaches are really cool. I should get some playing time really early," said Hale, also a wrestling standout. "I've always been a pretty big lacrosse guy. It's always been my goal to play in college."
The other two college commitments for 2015 are Myles Brown (Notre Dame, soccer) and Garrett Taylor (Michigan, football).
