St. Christopher's Welcomes New Football Coach
St. Christopher's has named Michael G. Turner Head Varsity Football Coach. In addition to overseeing the football program, Michael will be a key assistant in the Admissions Office and will also teach Upper School history.
Michael has been Head Varsity Football Coach, Admissions Officer, Classmaster and History Teacher at The Roxbury Latin School since 2006. Colleagues at the school describe Michael as an exceptional coach, talented teacher, charismatic leader, and man of integrity. In his years at Roxbury Latin, he mentored boys on and off the field, stewarding football players and their families through the college search process and serving as liaison between families and university representatives.
Michael has been Head Varsity Football Coach, Admissions Officer, Classmaster and History Teacher at The Roxbury Latin School since 2006. Turner began his coaching career at Germantown Academy, a school he attended and where his father served as Athletic Director and head football coach. As Head Varsity Football Coach at Germantown Academy, Michael led the team to two consecutive championships in Philadelphia’s Interacademic League. He also taught history and coached baseball and basketball for the school. Germantown Academy Headmaster Jim Connor describes Michael as one of the school’s most accomplished student athletes as well as an outstanding coach, teacher, and leader.

"Michael’s love of independent schools and his passion for football promise to align well with the Saints community. He understands and appreciates the relationship between academics and athletics and their shared role in developing crucial values and life skills."
Michael is a graduate of Germantown Academy and the University of Pennsylvania where he served as captain of the twice undefeated Ivy League champion football team. He also started for the Quakers baseball team. While at Penn, he was named Academic All-Ivy League, College Hall of Fame Scholar and earned the prestigious Class of 1915 Scholar Athlete Award.
