Alumnus Alex Baruch named Player of the Year

St. Christopher's 2004 graduate and senior at Denison University, Alex Baruch, has been named Lacrosse Player of the Year by NCAC (North Coast Athletic Conference). As the lacrosse team's goalie, he has been instrumental in the team's success this season. Alex leads the nation in goals against average and save percentage for 2008.

The team won their 10th NCAC championship taking their 10 game winning streak into the 2008 NCAA Division III Tournament. Denison was 13- 2 overall going into the tournament. Widener University was defeated 19- 6 in the first round of the tournament, pushing Denison through to face Gettysburg University in the second round. Alex Baruch played 50 minutes in the Widener game allowing only five goals and saving 11. In their second game of the NCAA tournament Gettysburg nudged by Denison in overtime with 8- 7 victory.

Denison ended the 2008 lacrosse season 14- 3. Alex Baruch was named Player of the Year by the NCAC. He was also joined by 13 teammates on the NCAC all- conference squads. Baruch is a four- time all NCAC goalkeeper and is making his second apperance on the first team. According to the Denison website, "A four-year starter in goal, he posted a career best .697 save percentage and team's averaged just 5.50 goals against him in 2008. He is the first conference player of the year from Denison since Frank Pennimpede in 1999".
