Football falls in VISAA semis

Saints finish season 7-4.
The varsity football team fell to Benedictine 20-0 Saturday, November 12 in the semifinals of the VISAA state tournament.

The third-seeded Saints had their opportunities, especially in a first half they controlled. StC had first and goal with about a minute left in the second quarter, but failed to convert a TD or a field goal. Then a botched punt attempt returned for a score by the second-seeded Cadets took the wind out of the team's sails with 10 minutes to go in the third quarter.

In his first game back on offense, Jacob Zollar '24 caught five passes for 81 yards. Defensively, Darius Gray '26 was a monster inside with 11 tackles, and Henry Omohundro '24 racked up 10 of his own, including a tackle for loss and a pass breakup.

Many players will return in 2023, but the senior-laden offensive line will be missed along with stalwarts like WR/DB Willie Jennings '23 and linebacker Kirk George '23.
